I have an interest in artwork and graphics from my teen years. I enjoyed sketching and took 2 years of mechanical drawing in
high school. From there I took Mechanical Drafting for a year and a half
at what was then Purdue Extension in Indianapolis. The Korean War forced
me to halt my college as I enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. I was able to
continue my artwork by being assigned as a draftsman. I did much
artwork, signs, banners, maps, etc., and while in Japan, I was assigned to
Photo Intelligence and did map work resulting from aerial photographs.
After a number of jobs after my discharge, I finally settled for a career in
the U.S. Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. I retired in 1989.
That work had absolutely nothing to offer in drawing,
though, and I ventured into computers in 1982. My first and main
interest was and still is graphics. I feel I am still learning.
