Pop-Up Stopper - Getting tired of those ever increasing pop up ads? Get this FREE program and most of them can be stopped. Get it HERE Anti-Virus program - If you are paying for an anti-virus program, consider this one when your next payment comes due. If you don't have one or are not satisfied with the program you have, check this out NOW, AVG by Grisoft. It's FREE to individuals and schools. Get it HERE emailStripper is a free program for cleaning the ">" and other formatting characters out of your emails. It will restore "forwarded" or "replied" emails back to their original state so they're easier to read. Get it HERE OldVersion - Sometimes upgrading to a newer version of a program can be a good thing. Other times, the story is different. Maybe your computer is not compatible with the new version or maybe you feel like the new version is bloated and all the good options were replaced. Regardless of your situation, sometimes you just want to go back to the old version, but you no longer have the installation file and you can no longer download it anywhere. For those times, there is OldVersion.com, an archive of old versions of various programs. Check it out HERE Trillian - I know there are several good Instant Messengers but that's part of the problem...there are too many. You have to load several different programs to keep track of your friends and each one you open drains a little more of your RAM. Trillian will allow you to show and cross talk with MSN Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, AOL's IM, ICQ, and IRC all in one program. The features are many and it uses the contact lists you already have established so you don't have to start all over again. Also, you don't HAVE to use it all the time. It doesn't change anything in your regular messenger programs. Oh, did I mention there is a FREE version? Check it out HERE Web Cam Viewer - This is a great web cam viewer. It comes with many web cam URLs already set up and you can add your own choices as you find more. Watch Niagara Falls, New York Times Square, ships going through the Panama Canal and many other interesting live shots. Get the standard version Web Cam Viewer 2 or the NEW Web Cam Viewer 3 Beta 1 which I am using by clicking the icon below. I suggest you choose the setup.exe download in either case. They are both FREE.
Check your e-mail - This isn't a program you need to download. It's a location that allows you to check your e-mail and even reply to it. So what's it good for? Well, while on vacation, you can check your home e-mail from any computer, including a public library. Simply go to this URL http://www.mail2web.com/ , enter your e-mail address and password and you're in! If you don't delete it on the spot, it will still be available from your home computer when you get home. Pretty neat. Copy the URL and keep it with you. NOTE: This will NOT show you e-mail you have already downloaded to your home computer...only new mail. HandyBits VoiceMail - This is a neat and easy to use program that lets you create a nicely compressed voice recording as a WAV file to attach to your e-mails. It also can be used to create a sound file for about any use you can think of. Click HERE to hear a sample of my voice. Click HERE to get the program. Did I mention it's FREE? Irfanview - Do you have a graphic viewer program or are you unhappy with the one you have and would like to try another? This may be the answer. Irfanview is a widely used graphic program and it meets two criteria..it's not a huge program and it's FREE It will not only view graphics and photos but also animations, video clips, etc. It will let you edit to some extent such as resizing, brightness, contrast, etc.. Interested? Click HERE to check it out and download. End It All - Do you hate the hassle of disabling your running programs when you want to scandisk, defrag, burn CDs, etc.? Then, this might be the program for you. It shows all programs that are running just like you normally see when you press Control-Alt Delete. The difference is, you can stop them all, or just selected ones with one button click. The needed programs, Iexplore and Systray are locked so you can't stop them. Of course, when you reboot, everything is restored. Oh, did I mention...it's FREE. Click HERE to get it. Drivers - Sooner or later everyone needs to find a driver for some hardware you have that you may want to install on a new computer or replace a driver you may have lost. I would suggest first choice would be to look for a home page of the manufacturer of your hardware and look in Drivers. If that fails, then try this URL...DriverGuide You have to join but its FREE. Start Page - Are you having more and more pop up ads and banners on your start page (the one you first get when logging on to Internet)? If so, give this one a try .. MyWay It is totally ad free and no banners or pop ups. Its totally configurable for your favorite sports teams, weather in different cities, background colors and themes...you name it. And its FAST. Also it has its own free email service if you choose to use it as well as being compatible with Yahoo, HotMail and numerous others. Did I mention its FREE? Your Birth date - Would you like to know more about what was going on the day you were born? Then just click HERE, enter your birth date and find out about prices, news headlines, sports, movies, songs, etc. Expression3 - Have you ever wanted to get into vector drawings but found programs like Adobe Illustrator were a bit too expensive for you?
